As the autumn term settles in, we hope things are running smoothly across your school, college or trust. This month, we’re focusing on how meaningful monitoring and effective target setting can turn everyday feedback into lasting professional growth.
Whether you’re refining lesson observations, conducting learning walks, or aligning development goals, the iP Suite continues to support a culture of reflection, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
We’ve also introduced some useful system updates - including a new Linking function to streamline the movement of staff within trusts and we’re excited to share details of our upcoming webinar, “Breaking the Mould”, with Mats Rosenkvist from BravoLesson.
Read on to explore how iP can help make monitoring more impactful, connect professional learning to evidence-based targets, and keep development moving forward across your school community.
Linking function: We’ve introduced a powerful new feature that makes managing staff across your trust even easier. The new linking function allows you to seamlessly link a staff member and all their associated data from one organisation to another within your trust.
This means that when a colleague transfers to a different school, their entire professional portfolio, observations, CPD records, targets, and evidence stay linked. No more starting from scratch or losing valuable developmental history. Everything travels with the staff member, ensuring continuity and a complete record of professional growth across the trust.
This update is designed to support multi-academy trusts (MATs) in creating a more connected, consistent approach to staff development and performance management.

Monitoring shouldn’t just be about collecting data - it should be about creating a clear pathway for professional growth. With the iP suite, every monitoring activity from lesson observations and book looks to learning walks can be directly linked to actionable, evidence-based targets. This means feedback is no longer just a note in a file; it becomes a tool teachers can use to reflect, plan, and develop their practice. By connecting observations to measurable goals, leaders gain a transparent overview of progress across the school, while teachers see a clear, achievable path to improving their teaching and enhancing student outcomes.
Feedback only sticks when it’s followed up with a clear, practical target. Vague comments like “develop questioning” rarely change practice. What makes the difference is a specific and achievable focus, agreed with the teacher, that can actually be worked on and revisited.
Good target setting does three things:
What effective targets look like:
Targets need to be regularly revisited with opportunities for support and reflection.
SchoolIP streamlines this cycle. Monitoring outcomes are directly tied to targets, which can be accessed and updated at any time. Teachers can upload evidence, reflect on progress, and track their development journey. Leaders gain a clear picture of both individual and whole-school progress.
Instead of monitoring being something done to staff, it becomes part of a transparent, supportive cycle of improvement. Everyone can see the link between feedback, action, and impact.
Breaking the Mould - An evidence-based Classroom Monitoring Method that makes all teachers improve skilful teaching
SchooliP is delighted to host a special webinar with Mats Rosenkvist, founder of BravoLesson and SuccessfulSchools Sweden.
This session will explore how evidence-based classroom monitoring can transform teaching across whole schools. Instead of focusing on compliance monitoring, the emphasis is on providing structured feedback, fostering collaborative learning, and implementing practical strategies that empower every teacher to grow in their practice.
